G.R.A.C.E. believes that prospective adopters should have a chance to learn about the greyhounds available. See what they look like, ask questions about particular dogs, and ultimately choose a greyhound who will best suit their circumstances and enrich their lives.

• We help adopters choose dogs by providing detailed information about each dog and offering suggestions about which dogs would work best in the adopter’s environment.

• We do not place a dog in a home without the adopters full involvement in the decision-making process.

• All families with children ages 3 through 5 years must have a fenced in yard to adopt.  Due to the fact that we cannot conduct in home visits with young children to see the true interaction between the grey and the children we are updating our requirements raising the minimum age to 3.

	Hello everyone, my name is Rg Rood Dog, but you can call me Groot. I just made the trip from Kansas to Michigan. I went to schooling but flunked out...but I know there is a couch in my future!!! I made the trip with my littermate Relax aka Rg Girls Gone and we are both looking for our forever homes. So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am super sweet. Don’t bite into me cause I’d give you cavities. Don’t expect to have any privacy because you MUST be within sight at all times. And the smaller you are, the better I like you. Little humans are the absolute best! And I’m sorry if I trip you. I need to go ahead of you to ward off any impending dangers. After all, your protection is my solemn responsibility. Other than that, I have very good house manners; I don’t dirty the house except for a few dropped hairs here and there and maybe a footprint when I come in from outdoors after a rain. I do have access to a dog door 24/7 so it’s easy to not have accidents in the house. I keep my nose a respectful distance from the kitchen counters even though I’d love to smell and dream about tasting whatever is up there. I do enjoy eating very much and have discovered treats are the absolute best! I enjoy my daytime naps and sleep the night thru. My foster parents were really happy it only took me a couple nights to not wake them at 2am to go outside. Love the dog door! Toys are a lot of fun to play with. I like to carry them from room to room. I’ve been pretty good at only playing with proper toys. My foster parents do let me know if I choose a toy that isn’t really a toy. I’m pretty good at leaving it alone once told. I haven’t gotten on the couch yet because no one else does. But I have jumped on my foster parent’s bed a couple times because the other hounds do. I’m quick at learning and following the house routines. I do my best to correct any inappropriate actions quickly. I want to please very much. I’ve heard my foster mom tell other humans I am a really good boy and so easy to have because I pay attention and correct so easily. She thinks I would be good for a first time Greyhound owner. Not sure how I’d do alone but would get along fine with another dog breed. Let’s see, what else? Oh yes, my favorite thing to do outdoors is lay in the grass after I’ve relieved myself. This running around after each other is so exhausting. I don’t care for it much. I will run if there is something really interesting that needs investigation. But run just to run, not so much. And I really do prefer being indoors. Another thing about outdoors is that darn muzzle. I HATE THAT THING!!! My foster mom put an extra strap on it so I can’t get if off. Not fair! Another hated muzzle time is any time we leave the house. That also requires a leash which is ok, but I don’t have the best leash manners yet. I forget I’m not on my own to go exploring. And jumping into a vehicle is still scary. I’m fine once you lift me up into it. I settle quickly and ride quietly. I’m getting better at jumping out. Practice makes perfect I’ve heard. One of our trips was to the groomer. The groomer herself was nice until she put me in the tube and got me all wet. The scrubbing felt good, and I was more than happy to get out when she asked me to. THEN she trimmed my nails! Now that was uncomfortable. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Another fun thing about me is I love to roo. Sing along with all the emergency sirens I hear, the house phone when it rings, my foster mom when she tries to roo. I even do it just because I’m happy. She is almost 2 (5/7/22) she has no problem walking on laminate floors, is clean in the house, loads and rides well in the car, and is as Sweets as can be. She is considered not small animal safe but she is not fixated on my chickens so maybe she could learn to get along 🤷‍♀️. She appreciates hanging out with other greyhounds but also has no problem entertaining herself by taking all the toys outside, running around and dropping them all over the yard. He is a very sweet and lovable guy that loves to be with his people. 6/6/2024 Foster Sargent is making himself at home in only four days time. So far he has tried playing with a couple squeaky toys, started sleeping on a doggy bed as well as in the kennel, and has been running around the yard with Honey. The hardwood floors aren't a problem and so far he hasn't paid any attention to the cats. Food and treats are YUMMY! 6/4/2024 Foster Sargent is already a champion roacher! He's only been here one day and is starting to fit in. No accidents in the house and no problem with our hardwood floors. He hasn't seen much of the cats yet since they stay hidden until they get used to a new grey. He is very lovable and sweet!
